Continous Path

Center for Contemporary Art Kitakyushu

As architects we are interested in constructing frames that allows a new perception of the existing space. Visitor’s experience depends on his own deambulation and relation to time confusion.

‘Continuous path’ asks the possibililty of rediscovering the galery space.

A two walls corridor fills the galery space, creating a situation of interiority and exteriority inside the space. Initial space gets blurrier and more diaphanous in terms of materiality and relation to time. It encourages visitors to walk every corners according to his own curiosity.

The feeling of time lingers on when walking around, like it would do in an ambulatorium. The position of the visitor in space and time gets questioned when the visitor discovers a corner room where a live image of the corridor is projected. A time-delay allows him to watch himself deambulating.

‘The complexity comes with the people’, Dan Graham

‘Architecture is not about space but about time’, Vito Acconci
